Mark Stammers Visual & Fine Art

This blog begins with the Making of the Motional Figure: my drawings for a public art piece won a national competition, and the blog charts some of the stages of developing and making the piece for Elmbridge Borough Council, to instal at the Elmbridge X Cell leisure Complex, as an entrance feature and to open the London Olympics locally.

I worked with Julian Reichman an old college friend to fabricate the piece, generally doing the welding at his workshop nr Huntingdon, and Watson & Brookman engineers nr Chawston Bedfordshire, who also supported us generously with their workshops and fabricating the finishing parts with me. And Colin Davies the structural engineer from Rugby who supported us with consultation, foundation, base plate & bolt design.

I make creative drawings for public art & public art, I make  sculpture, paintings and exhibitions. I am pleased to do workshops with the public with these and have extensive tutoring experience. Some of my work includes photography and digital art, though these are more often applied to community art projects. see: http://www.stamms.co.uk
